The Fatal Accident Crash Team is Called Out on Two Separate Crashes Within a Half Hour

Clarksville Police DepartmentClarksville, TN – Clarksville Police Department’s Fatal Accident Crash Team was called out on two separate crashes within a half hour of each other.

One crash resulted in a fatality and the other crash sent a man to Vanderbilt by Life Flight.

Crash #1

10/30/10, around 9:08pm, a 57 year old Hispanic male, of Clarksville was walking in the left southbound lane of Providence Blvd when a 98 Dodge Stratus driven by Devita Shaw, 35, of Clarksville was traveling in the southbound lane of Providence Blvd and collided with the pedestrian, walking in the lane, around the 900 Block of Providence Blvd.  The driver of the vehicle did not see the pedestrian in the lane.

The Hispanic male died at the scene. The name will be released pending notification of the next of kin.

Officer Andy Bechtold is the lead investigator, 931-320-3741. The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.

Crash #2

10/30/10, around 9:36pm, According to witness accounts, a Chevy Lumina driven by Juan Rolando Cuevas, 43, of Fort Campbell, KY was traveling North on the 1600 Block of Fort Campbell Blvd when a Red Dodge pickup, unknown driver, made a left turn out of a business to go Southbound on Fort Campbell Blvd;  the Dodge pulled out in front of the northbound Lumina. The witnesses said it appeared as though when Cuevas tried to avoid hitting the pickup, he lost control of the vehicle, crossed the southbound lanes of Fort Campbell Blvd, left the paved road, went in between two poles, went up an embankment, collided with a Saturn and Nissan, parked in the lot of Taco Bell, before his vehicle stopped in the parking lot of Taco Bell, 1670 Fort Campbell Blvd. 

Juan Cuevas was partially launched through the windshield of his vehicle. Cuevas did not appear to be wearing a seatbelt.  He was taken by Life Flight to Vanderbilt and was in critical condition.

The lead investigator is Officer Bill VanBeber, 931-648-0656, ext. 7148. Charges are pending.

Anyone with information about the Red Dodge pickup that left the scene is asked to call Officer VanBeber or the TIPSLINE, 931-645-8477.
