Clarksville, TN – The weekly Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department Recreation Report provides Clarksvillians with a glimpse at the activities and events that are available from the Parks and Recreation Department for them to enjoy together as a family.

“Art on the Park” Contest Winners Announced
The following are the top four winners of the contest.
- First place – Paola Torres
- Second place – Nic Hadden
- Third place – Christina Bucaro
- Fourth place – Ginger Slebodnik
The winners have been given the opportunity to paint their design on various walls of the Heritage Park Skate Park. Painting of the winning murals began last weekend and will continue until completion.
Registration for the Youth Basketball League Has Been Extended
Youth ages 7-17, now have until Friday, November 5th to sign up for the youth league. Registration can be done at any or our three community centers or at the Parks & Recreation’s main office from 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Yoga
Burt-Cobb Community Center will soon offer a four week yoga session which will meet every Thursday from 6-7pm, beginning November 18th. The cost for the entire session is $18.
Archery to Be Offered Again
The Kleeman Community Center will soon offer two archery classes for youth, grades 4-12, beginning November 1st. A beginner’s class will be held from 4-5p.m. and an advanced class will be held from 5-6p.m. Both classes will meet every Monday for four weeks. The cost is $10 per student for the entire session.
Winter Gym Program
Every year, the Parks & Recreation Department and the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System partner to provide a free winter gymnasium program for recreational basketball free play. The program is offered Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays at Byrns-Darden Elementary School Gymnasium from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. from November 1, 2010 through March 30, 2011.Children under 13 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Looking for a job?
We will soon begin accepting applications for certified lifeguards, pool supervisors and concession workers for the Indoor Aquatic Facility which will be coming soon to New Providence Pool. To fill out an application, please go to our Parks and Recreation main office, located at 102 Public Square beginning November 8th. Interviews will begin November 15th.

Christmas on the Cumberland
The Christmas on the Cumberland Grand Opening Celebration is set for November 23 at McGregor Park. Join us at 6:30pm to watch the entire RiverWalk come to life with over one million lights! This popular Christmas on the Cumberland walk-through event will be open through January 3. Event hours are 5-10 p.m., Sunday through Thursday and 5-11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Throughout the event, there will be several weekend opportunities for children and their families to participate in family oriented activities.
