Fort Campbell, KY – Two 101st Airborne Division Soldiers were killed November 22nd, when an improvised explosive device detonated near their dismounted patrol in the village of Ghotamudkha, Kandahar province, Afghanistan.
Both Soldiers were Infantrymen assigned to Alpha Company, 2nd Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault.) Killed were Staff Sgt. Sean Michael Flannery, age 29,and Specialist William Kyle Middleton, age 26.

Staff Sgt. Sean Michael Flannery, 29, of Wyomissing, PA. Flannery entered the Army in July 2004 and arrived at Fort Campbell in April 2009.

Flannery is survived by his mother, Charlene V. Flannery, of Wyomissing, PA.Â
William Middleton
Specialist William Kyle Middleton, 26, of Norfolk, VA Middleton entered the Army in April 2009 and arrived at Fort Campbell in August 2009.
His awards and decorations include:Â National Defense Service Medal; Afghanistan Campaign Medal; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; NATO Medal; Army Service Ribbon; Air Assault Badge and Combat Infantryman Badge.
Middleton is survived by his father, Clarence Middleton of Amelia, VA and his mother, Marlene Blackburn of Richmond, VA.
A memorial service will be held for the fallen in Afghanistan. Fort Campbell also holds a monthly Eagle Remembrance Ceremony. The next ceremony will be held December 8th at 4:00pm.
