Clarksville to Break Ground on New Fire Station

City of ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville is set to break ground on a new fire station.

The new building for Clarksville Fire Rescue Station No. 7 at 425 Tiny Town Road will continue to be located on airport property and offer service to the airport. The existing building, located at Outlaw Field, will be torn down to make room for the construction of the new Airport Terminal Building.

The $1.1 million project will provide firefighters with quicker access to Tiny Town Road.

“We are always focused on improving the safety of our citizens and the effectiveness of our emergency services,” Clarksville Mayor Johnny Piper said. “The new fire station will allow firefighters to respond to emergencies faster and more efficiently.”

The new one-story station will be energy efficient, making extensive use of natural lighting, natural gas heating and fresh air ventilation.

The station will also have an apparatus room, which will highlight several environmentally friendly attributes, with three drive-thru bays, one of which will house the ARFF truck that the Airport Authority plans to acquire.

The fire station will also utilize concrete pavement, which greatly reduces the “heat island” effect that is typical of standard black asphalt parking lots.

The new station will also provide modern sleeping quarters, kitchen and dining room, day room, exercise room, toilets with showers, operations room, and turnout gear storage and decontamination facilities.

The HVAC system for office and living spaces will use a variable refrigerant flow heat pump system that allows for greater efficiency and control. The system also features multiple indoor units and thermostats so different rooms can be set to different temperatures when unoccupied.

Crews will break ground on Tuesday.
