Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – The weekly Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department Recreation Report provides Clarksvillians with a glimpse at the activities and events that are available from the Parks and Recreation Department for them to enjoy together as a family.

Pool Pass Gift Cards Make the Perfect Gift

With the holidays approaching and the opening of the Indoor Aquatic Center at New Providence nearing, be sure to stuff your stockings this season with a pool pass gift card. Gift cards are on sale now at the Parks and Recreation Main Office located at 102 Public Square. Gift cards can be purchased in the following amounts, $25.00, $50.00, $100.00 and can be redeemed for lessons, memberships, or merchandise at the Indoor Aquatic Center. Aerobics

Looking to get a head start on your new year’s resolution? Join us at Crow Community Center, located at 211 Richview Road, every Tuesday and Thursday night at 6:00pm for aerobics. A community center ID card is required and the cost for the 10 week program is $20.00.

Christmas on the Cumberland

Come enjoy the popular Christmas on the Cumberland walk-through event now through January 3rd. Event hours are 5:00pm-10:00pm, Sunday through Thursday and 5:00pm-11:00pm on Fridays and Saturdays. Join us December 17th & 18th from 6:00pm-8:00pm, as local choirs take the stage to perform holiday classics. Children of all ages are sure to love Christmas on the Cumberland. Wednesday Night Fun

Adults, ages 18 and up, head on over to Burt Cobb Community Center, located at 1011 Franklin Street, every Wednesday night from 6:30pm-9:00pm to play volleyball.  A community center ID card is required which costs $5.00 for the entire year.

Pictures with Santa

This holiday season, kids can have their pictures taken for FREE with the jolly old man himself, Santa, at two of our community centers. Bring your own camera to take pictures from 6:00pm-7:00pm, December 13th- Burt Cobb and December 14th- Kleeman. Join us for games, snacks, and lots of fun!

Disc Golf

Clarksville Parks & Recreation has recently opened a disc golf course at the newly renamed, Barbara E. Johnson Park, located at located at 240 Outlaw Field. The nine-hole recreational course along with the Barbara E. Johnson Pavilion are the newest additions to the Park, which already features a walking trail and playground.

Toddlers in Action

Looking for a way to stimulate your toddlers learning while allowing them to interact with other toddlers? Kleeman Community Center offers a Toddlers in Action class that meets every  Thursday from 10:00am- 11:00am. This class is open to toddlers ages 2-4. The cost is $3.00 per class or $15.00 for the entire six week session.

Quick Silver Social to be held December 18th

Kleeman Community Center will be hosting a Quick Silver Social for those ages 50 and up from 5:00pm- 7:00pm. Enjoy music, fun, and food. Cost is FREE!

Indoor Soccer program to be offered soon

Beginning January 15th, the Crow Community Center, located at 211 Richview Road, will offer its eight week indoor soccer program to kids ages 4-12. Cost is $20.00 per child. Register today! For more information, please call 931-645-7476.

Movies in the Park 2011

Want to have a say on what you see at Movies in the Park next summer? Please email your movie suggestions to our Special Events Coordinator at niki.crowe@cityofclarksville.com or add your suggestion to the Facebook page by searching Clarksville Movies in the Park. The only restrictions are that they cannot be Disney and must be on DVD by May 2010.
