The Downtown Clarksville Association kicks off the New Year in style with the First Thursday Art Walk

Historic Downtown ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – The First Art Walk of the New Year kicked off last night with a mega exhibit by the Friends of Photography at the Downtown Artists Co-op. Alan Goldstein and Tony Centonze both had some really great pieces. Alan has been featured in Clarksville Online with his photographs documenting of the demolition of the old Gateway Hospital.

At Paige King’s Hodgepodge,  Beth Ryan was exhibiting her work, she has some wonderful landscapes and wildlife paintings that she creates is a backyard art studio which she shares with her husband.

While ARTifacts Emporium was a buzz about a new silversmith who has started selling her wares at the unique and eleccetic shop.

Ingredients is always a sweet stop on the art walk, the kitchen supply store has always featured a chef’s creation along with traditional artists. This month they were showcasing the Sweetest Batch Cupcakery, and Tara Neal’s paintings which featured images of; you guessed it cupcakes!

The APSU Downtown Art Gallery was featuring stylish works from Cynthia McGrail and Kimberly Santiago.

Visions Metaphysical Boutique featured some mind blowing paintings by a new artist,  and I can’t for the life of me remember the artists name; for which I apologize.

I didn’t make it to two of the stops on the Art Walk, as I got distracted talking to old friends and exploring some of the unique establishments that make up downtown, including Betty’s Antiques.

Also exhibiting art and artists was the Framemaker which was highlighting APSU’s Zone 3 Press, and The Roxy Regional Theatre’s Peg Harvil Gallery which was showing the impressionistic work of photographer Cliff Whittaker.  The Roxy Regional Theatre is about to kick off their showing of the wildly popular Vagina Monologues, on January 7th, and a wonderful children’s show Once Upon A Time, on January 15th.

The First Thursday Art Walk is sponsored by the Downtown Clarksville Association. It is held from 5:00pm till 8:00pm, it is held as its name suggests, on the First Thursday of each month. The Art Walk features some of the best from the areas diverse art community. So come down and see the art, enjoy some good food and drink, meet the artists, and share in the sense of community and the great conversation. And if you find a piece you really like, you will purchase it, and give the artist the warm feeling that someone liked their work enough to buy it!
