Edmondson shares OVC Newcomer of Week award

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – TyShwan Edmondson, who had 33 points in Austin Peay State University’s overtime loss to Tennessee State, Saturday, has been named Ohio Valley Conference Co-Newcomer of the Week.

Coincidentally, the Hopkinsville, KY, native shared the award with his former Midland Community College teammate, Tennessee State’s Kenny Moore.

In Saturday’s  loss to TSU, Edmondson snapped a two-game shooting slump by knocking down 12 of 26 shots, including 7 of 14 three pointers, in tallying his second 30-point—and 33-point—outing this season. He scored 21 of his points after intermission.

His seven three pointers were the most by Governors since Todd Babington had seven at Eastern Illinois, February 8th, 2008.

For the week, Edmondson averaged 22.5 ppg, shooting 42.5 percent (17-of-40) from the field and 44.4 percent (8-of-18) from three-point territory.

This marks Edmondson’s fifth OVC Newcomer of the Week award this season.
