House fire injures two, and displaces family, your assistance is needed

Clarksville, TN – Tuesday morning at around 2:01am Clarksville Fire Rescue received a report of a fire at 1032 Washington Street. Stations 1 and 4 responded finding the home engulfed in smoke and flames coming from the rear of the house.

A family of five lived in the house. Michaela Reed; Gareth Baker; and three children, Jacob Reed, 5, Elijah Baker, 2, and Daniel Baker, 7 months. They were inside when the fire occurred.

Gareth Baker received second degree burns on his face and fingers while rescuing baby Daniel who suffered a third degree burn on his arm and smoke inhalation. According to Fire Marshal Ray Williams he would have rated their condition critical. The father and son were transported from the house to Gateway Medical Center in Clarksville, TN where they were stabilized, and from there were transported to the burn center at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville Tennessee.

The family has lost everything they own in the fire and are starting over from scratch. While they are receiving asisstance from the American Red Cross, that will not be enough to make them whole again. So Clarksville Online in conjunction with the WJZM 1400 AM radio station has organized a drop off point for donations of clothing, food, and household items for the family. You can drop off your donations to help the family by the radio station at 925 Martin Street (just  off of Crossland Avenue) between the hours of 9:00am and 5:00pm. Other drop off locations include Dunn Electric, 1448 Madison Street; and Dunn Insurance, 409 Madison Street.

Children’s clothing should be appropriate for boys ages 5-1/2, 2-1/2 and 7 months.
