Community mourns the lost of local civil rights activist

Civil Rights Activist Enoch Van Hagans passed on Saturday February 5th, 2011 at Gateway Medical Center.

Memorial services and burial will be held at 1:00pm on February 9th, 2011 at Middle Tennessee Veteran’s Cemetery (7931 Mccrory Lane in Nashville, TN). The Rabbi Saul Strasberg will officiate at the funeral.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Marshall Donnelly Comb Funeral Home (201 25th North Avenue Nashville, TN)

After the funeral services a gathering will take place with the family at Ryan’s Steak House (2702 Wilma Rudolph Boulevard) at 3:30 pm.

Come out and offer your support, prayers and condolences to the Hagan Family during their time of need.

Biography

Enoch was born October 20th, 1958 Son of John (Ben) Abraham Hagans of Kenly, NC. and Emma Lee Poindexter-Hagans of Clarksville, TN. He Was A Disabled Veteran, Civil Rights Activist, Veterans Advocate, And a Grant Writer.

Enoch Was A Supply Specialist In The U.S. Army, and Corpsmen in the U.S. Navy. Enoch was preceded in death by his father John (Ben) A. Hagan, and his brother Natali Hagans of Jerusalem Israel.

Surviving his demise with cherished memories are his 3 children and 3 grand children; son Van Enon Hagans- Kenwood High; daughter Van-Nessa Jean Hagans- Lane College; step daughter Casey of Dayton, OH and wife Iris of Cleveland, OH; sisters Lorez Marie Davis, Barbra Lee Poindexter, and Angela Ware Chicago, IL; brothers: William, John, Robert, Bubba Vel; nieces and nephews and his uncle Jessie Futrell of Atlanta, GA.
