APSU Senior Art Students Exhibit Work this Spring

The APSU Department of Art LogoClarksville, TN – Earlier this month, a group of 16 young artists gathered in a classroom on the Austin Peay State University campus while a winter storm dropped two to three inches of snow outside.

Normally, this would be a cause of distraction for the students. They might be expected to gather around the window and wonder if the University was going to close (which it did moments later).

APSU art students will present several art shows and exhibits this spring on campus. But on this afternoon, they weren’t so easily sidetracked. This spring marks their last semester as APSU students, and that afternoon, they were learning a little about the one of the great opportunities afforded to any artists  – exhibiting their work to the public.

The students, all seeking a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, are enrolled in the Senior Exhibition class, taught by professor of art Gregg Schlanger. The class requires students to present their work in a public setting to earn their diploma.

The APSU Department of Art has scheduled these student art exhibitions on the main campus for this spring, and all shows are open to the public.

The seniors scheduled to present are the following:

  • March 21st-25th: Melissa Cox, Trahern, 108.
  • March 28th-April 1st: Jessica Griffin, Trahern, 108.
  • April 4th-8th: Megan Melton, Trahern, 108.
  • April 11th-22nd: Wendy Wainwright, Trahern, 108.
  • April 25th-29th: Reni Zhang, Trahern, 108.
