Fort Campbell Soldier dies from small arms fire wounds

Fort Campbell KY, 101st Airborne DivisionFort Campbell, KY – A 101st Airborne Division Soldier died February 17th, of wounds suffered from small arms fire in Ghaziabad District, Kunar province, Afghanistan.

Specialist Jonathan A. Pilgeram, 22, of Great Falls, MT, was an Infantryman assigned to Delta Company, 1 Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). He joined the Army in November 2008 and arrived at Fort Campbell in January 2010.

PilgeramHis awards and decorations include: Afghanistan Campaign Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Army Achievement Medal; Overseas Service Ribbon; Combat Infantryman Badge; North Atlantic Treaty Organization Medal; Army Commendation Medal and Army Service Ribbon.

Pilgeram is survived by his father Rodney L. Pilgeram and mother, Roberta L. Pilgeram both of Great Falls, MT.

Fort Campbell holds a monthly Eagle Remembrance Ceremony to honor fallen Screaming Eagles. The next ceremony will be held March 9th at 4:00pm at the Family Resource Center. A memorial service will be held for Spc. Pilgeram in Afghanistan.
