The Framemaker

The Framemaker proudly presents artists Melanie Hildebrandt and Ashley Scriven. The exhibit, titled “Learning to be Still,” will remain on display at the Framemaker throughout the month of March during normal business hours (Mon. through Fri. 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.).

According to Melanie Hildebrandt, “noticing the intimate movements of life is an increasingly important part of my being. Things that provoke me to stop, and absorb the stillness bring unexpected reflection during hectic days. At times, I find those things are jarring me to realization.” As Richard Land says, “I am glad that so much movement happens in this stillness.” This show reflects split seconds and lingering moments of being enveloped by tranquility.

Artist Ashley Scriven explores the solitude and stillness in architecture. Ashley states, “I have compiled this series to explore the evidence of human life in completely abandoned buildings as well as the loneliness of some that are still occupied.” She goes on to explain, “With each image shown, I captured the evidence that these buildings were once well-loved and cared for. In this modern world, individuals cannot forget about the beauty and grandeur of something very well-aged. Each of these images was my attempt at showing others that the eyesores around us are not so, they are beautiful in their own right and worthy of our attention.”

Hodgepodge

Hodgepodge is proud to feature selections “From the Collection of Susan Bryant,” a variety of hand-colored black-and-white photos from the past twenty years.
