Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s baseball team will host South Dakota State in a pair of midweek contests. The two teams are scheduled to play a 4:00pm contest both Tuesday and Wednesday at Raymond C. Hand Park.
Austin Peay (6-3) has a 6-1 mark at Raymond C. Hand Park after posting a 2-1 record in last weekend’s Riverview Inn Invitational. The Govs saw their 11-game home winning streak stopped with a 16-15 extra-inning loss to Eastern Michigan before bouncing back with a 10-5 victory against EMU and an 11-4 win against Alabama A&M.
Freshman second baseman Blake Frazier is batting .677 in the Govs first nine games this season, posting 21 hits and 12 RBI. He batted .667 during the Govs five games last week, including an impressive 4-for-4 effort in the first game of the Mississippi series.South Dakota State (1-4) visits Raymond C. Hand Park after playing a three-game series at UT Martin. The Jackrabbits split the first two games of the series, dropping a 14-5 rain-delayed contest before rebounding with a 2-0 victory in Sunday’s contest for its season’s first victory. SDSU and UT Martin were scheduled to play a 3:00pm, Monday contest.
SDSU was picked to finish second in the Summit League race after winning a share of the league’s regular-season title in 2010. Senior utility infielder Joel Blake leads the team with 10 hits in the first five games, batting .526. The Jackrabbits offense has struggled early on, scoring 14 runs in five games.
