APSU Men’s Baseball
Jonesboro, AR – Austin Peay’s baseball team begins a long stretch away from home when it meets Sun Belt Conference member Arkansas State in a three-game weekend series, beginning with a 6:00pm, Friday contest at Tomlinson Stadium. The two squads will play a 4:00pm, Saturday contest followed by a 1:00pm, Sunday series finale.
The Govs (7-4) have stumbled in their last four games, posting a 3-4 mark. All aspects of Austin Peay’s attach have struggled during the stretch. The offense is batting just .297 but still averaging 7.9 runs per game. The Govs pitchers are surrendering a 5.84 ERA but of more concern is their collective 7.3 walks per game they have issued during the stretch.
Clarksville, TN – The deadline to make a 2010 IRA contribution is April 18th, 2011. The contribution limit is $5,000.00 for individuals under age 50 and $6,000.00 for individuals over age 50. The same limits are in place for 2011 IRA contributions.

APSU Women’s Golf
Citrus Springs, FL – Chelsea Harris shot a two-over 74, Thursday, to help propel Austin Peay State University women’s golf team to second place after Day One of the EKU El Diablo Intercollegiate, being played at the at the El Diablo Golf and Country Club.
Despite an early morning rain delay, the Lady Govs shot a 313 on the par-72, 5,902-yard layout, leaving them just three strokes behind host and Ohio Valley Conference rival Eastern Kentucky. Florida Atlantic is in third (315) while Barry (320) is fourth in the seven-team tournament.
Fort Campbell, KY – Has it already been a year since the kick off of the Walk to Afghanistan began? It is amazing how time flies when you are walking 7,230 miles as a team or 1,445 miles individually.
Join Family and MWR Sports and Fitness as they invite all the participants to walk the final mile in this year long journey on March 26th. The walk begins at 9:00am with give-a-ways and awards given at 9:30am. If you participated in a team please ensure you have turned in your team’s recorded miles by March 18th.

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s track and field team begins the outdoor season, Friday, at the Coastal Carolina Invitational.
The meet begins at 10:00am, Friday, with the weight throws followed by the relays and long-distance races. Saturday’s slate kicks off at 7:00am, with the remaining field events while the track events continue at 9:00am.
Fort Campbell, KY – A 101st Airborne Division Soldier died of wounds after being struck by an improvised explosive device while on dismounted patrol March 9th near Haji Rahmuddin, Afghanistan.
Corporal Loren Miles Buffalo, 20, of Mountain Pine, AR was a Cavalry Scout assigned to Bravo Troop, 1st Squadron, 75th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University tennis teams will see its spring break trip come to fruition with a pair of weekend matches against South Alabama and BYU Hawaii, Friday and Saturday, respectively.
The Govs (7-2) have won their last four matches, most recently picking up a 6-1 win against Kennesaw State, Monday. With sophomores Henrique Norbiato and Sean Bailey – a pair of 2010 All-OVC picks – providing leadership, Austin Peay has elevated its doubles play tremendously.

Kunar Province, Afghanistan – The Afghan National Army took a major step toward responsibility for their country’s security when it assumed control of Forward Operating Base Blessing in eastern Afghanistan’s Kunar Province March 4th.
Afghan soldiers now safeguard the Pech River Valley near the border with Pakistan – historically one of Kunar Province’s most volatile areas. Although FOB Blessing is not the first base transferred to the Afghan National Army, it is the largest in Regional Command-East transferred to date.

Clarksville, TN – A water outage is scheduled for Porters Bluff Road on Friday, March 11th, beginning at 8:00am for approximately 3 hours. Gas and Water construction workers will turn water off on Porters Bluff from Madison to Commerce Street and on both Trahern Circle and Trahern Lane for water meter replacement work. Surrounding residents may experience low water pressure during the outage.
Roads will be open to traffic.
