“We did not know we were being honored with these certificates,” said Nizamudin, an ANA soldier from the RCC.

Several of the ANA soldiers were recognized for their personal achievements in functional areas related to their duties and leadership.

“The leadership shown by these (ANA RCC) NCOs has been impressive,” said U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Adam J. Lemmerman, squad leader from 1st Platoon, Co. A, and native of Cleveland, OH. “They have demonstrated an exceptional ability to achieve all tasks given to them in an efficient manner.”

“These (ANA) soldiers have been doing an outstanding job,” said U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Bryan J. Fadely, a squad leader from Co. A, and native of Raymondville, TX. “They have been working very hard and have proven that they are giving their best for their country.”

He said many of the ANA soldiers were motivated to surpass the impressive standard they had already set.

“I did not know that I was anything other than an average driver,” said Noor Muhammad, an ANA soldier from the RCC. “Being recognized with this award for my driving, makes me want to practice my driving to be better — to be the best driver.”

Though excitement from the award ceremony was high, it only added momentum to positive impressions being laid by the new ANA route clearance patrol.

“They definitely care about the work they are doing and what they are trying to accomplish for their country,” said U.S. Army Sgt. 1st Class Nathan A. Marshall, a platoon sergeant from Co. A, and native of Kahoka, MS. “This is the best partnership, out of my deployments, that I have had the opportunity to be a part of. I am very confident that these guys are going to be perfectly capable of doing this job without us.”
