APSU finished the tourney with a 324, tying it with Tennessee Tech. Middle Tennessee won the tourney with a 305, with UAB second at 314 and host Belmont third at 321 in the eight-team tourney.

APSU coach Sara Robson was pleased with her team’s performance, Tuesday.

“I don’t think any of our girls played well, Monday,” Robson said, “and I think everyone played well today. The course lost some 20 trees and our girls didn’t let the condition of the course or the windy conditions serve as a distraction. They did a lot of good things out there today.”

Chelsea HarrisSenior Chelsea Harris led the team scorers with a 79, tying her for 10th place. Sophomore Holly Batey followed with an 80 while senior Catie Tucker was at 82, redshirt freshman Tabitha Beard at 83 and freshman Tala Mumford at 84.

Individually, freshman Rachel Deaton tied Harris for low APSU score, firing a 79, while senior Ashley Wathen had an 83. Junior Ashley Averitt rounded out the individual scores with an 86.

Holly Batey“I think all the girls played well this afternoon,” Robson said. “It was good to see Rachel put up a good score and Holly continues to play good, consistent golf.  Probably the most important thing to note is that Tabitha played for the first time without her (wrist) brace.”

The Lady Govs will wrap up the regular season this weekend when they travel to Richmond, KY, to play in the EKU Lady Colonel Classic.
