Four Car Crash on Trenton Road Sends Four to the Hospital

Clarksville Police DepartmentClarksville, TN – On April 6th, 2011, around 8:48pm, a multi-car crash sent four to the hospital and closed Trenton Road for 1 ½  hours. A Honda Accord driven by Kenneth Owensby, 50 was traveling south on Trenton Road without his headlights on.

A Mazda Pickup, driven by Garrett Potts, 19, pulled out of a private residence in front of the Honda to head southbound. The Honda then crossed the center line into the northbound lane of Trenton Road colliding with a Chevrolet pickup, driven by Robert Whitlow, 72. The Honda continued on and sideswiped a Toyota Camry, driven by Amanda Kellett, 30, also traveling northbound.

After the Honda bounced off of the Camry, it then rear-ended the Mazda pickup which had previously pulled out of the private residence. The Mazda then hit a mailbox and telephone pole before coming to rest.

Owensby, Whitlow, Potts, and a passenger in the Mazda, Samuel Womack, 19 were all transported by ambulance to Gateway with non-life threatening injuries in one of the vehicles

Kenneth Owensby, the Honda driver was cited for Failure to use Reasonable Care. Owensby told the officer at the scene that he may have been experiencing a medical issue at the time of the crash and also conveyed that he was trying to avoid animals in the road.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash.

Officer Brooke Hagewood is the lead investigator.
