Fort Campbell, KY–  It was an early arrival on Tuesday as 211 Soldiers with the 2nd  Brigade Combat Team Returned to Returned to Campbell Army Airfield. Once the plane was in site, you could hear children shout out.. Daddy’s home. There were lots of cheers and tears as soldiers passed by the awaiting family members as the dropped their gear and formed up just outside hanger 3.

As the soldiers prepared to enter the hanger, they picked up yellow roses provided by Navy Federal Credit Union to give to loved ones once they were released for 15 minutes of family time.

Kimberlee Cavin and her sons along with local photographer Paige Kimball were eagerly awaiting the arrival of her husband Major Chris Cavin.  Once inside, Brigadier General Jeffrey N. Colt welcomed everyone home in a short speech to the soldiers.  Afterwards everyone was allowed 15 minutes of family time. Family members raced to the hanger floor to embrace their loved ones.  There was lots of excitement, hugs and tears as they have the opportunity to hold each after the long deployment.

If you wish to attend a Welcome Home Ceremony, check the flight schedules online, as times are subject to change at any time. When arriving to Fort Campbell, enter via Gate 7; if you don’t have installation stickers on your vehicle, you will be required to get a visitor pass. From there just follow the signs to the ceremony parking. Waiting buses transport the Family members safely to the hanger.
