226 Soldiers with the 1st & 2nd BCT and 101 HHB Return Minutes before the Clock Strikes 12

Fort Campbell KY, 101st Airborne DivisionFort Campbell, KY – Just before midnight on Sunday, 226 Soldiers with the 1st and 2nd Brigade Combat Team and 101st Headquarters and Headquarters Battery returned to Fort Campbell, KY at 11:52pm after a year long deployment to Afghanistan.

As the plan landed, one little girl was ready to jump the fence to go get her daddy off the plane and take him home. She has missed him so much and was just ready for his arrival.

Once soldiers deplaned, the gathered outside the hanger to drop their gear and form up to marh inside to he greeted by friends and family. SPC Jesse Bonds had his own fan club as his mother Brackie Bonds, father Jimmy Bonds, brother Shane Hester, Sister-in-law Bethany Hester alond with his cousin Michael Massey and Grandmother Carole Hester all we eargerly awaiting his arrival. They had a huge banner to Welcome him home.  SPC Bonds is looking forward to going to Hooters, a cold beer and a trip to the beach.

Once inside, Brigadier General Jeffrey N. Colt welcomed everyone home in a short speech to the soldiers. Afterwards everyone was allowed 15 minutes of family time before heading back to their unit to turn in their gear.

The next scheduled flight is set to arrive at Campbell Army Airfield today  April 20th, 2011 at 5:45am.  If you wish to attend a Welcome Home Ceremony, check the flight schedules online, as times are subject to change at any time. When arriving to Fort Campbell, enter via Gate 7; if you don’t have installation stickers on your vehicle, you will be required to get a visitor pass. From there just follow the signs to the ceremony parking. Waiting buses transport the Family members safely to the hanger.
