Clarksville, TN – Sophomore John Hogan, of the Austin Peay State University baseball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.
In five games last week Hogan hit .333 (7-for-21) with two runs scored, four doubles, and seven RBI. The Governors won two of three at Jacksonville State, giving the Govs their third-straight conference series win.
The Saint Louis, MO native was clutch in the Governors two victories over Jacksonville State. In Game 1, Hogan started strong with a first-inning RBI double. Then with the Govs down 2-1 in the fifth-inning, Hogan hit a two-run double giving the Governors a lead they would not release.
In the final game Hogan picked up a fourth-inning double and a sixth-inning double before tying the game with an eighth-inning RBI single, setting up the Govs big five-run ninth inning.
The Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week is selected by the APSU Sports Information staff each Tuesday during the academic year. Copies in a Flash, of Clarksville, sponsors the award.
Other notable performances by Austin Peay athletes included:
- Senior Chiamaka Obi, of the track and field team, recorded an Ohio Valley Conference best 400-meter dash time (55.24) at the Sea Ray Relays in Knoxville. The time is 0.23 seconds faster than her previous best.
- Freshman Jasmin Ademovic, of the men’s tennis team was named OVC Freshman of the Year and first team All-OVC. Ademovic won the deciding match in the OVC championship semifinals against Tennessee Tech sending the Governors to the finals.
- Sophomore Carolin Weikard and Freshman Kimberly Loo, of the women’s tennis team picked up a doubles victory against Murray State in the first round of the OVC championship. Both Lady Govs also picked up singles wins in the first round against Murray State.
