Sounds open Eight-Game Homestand Saturday

Homestand Highlighted By Three Fireworks Shows and Four Reading Club Games

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds return home to Greer Stadium this Saturday, April 23rd, to open an eight-game homestand against the division-rival Omaha Storm Chasers (Royals affiliate) and Albuquerque Isotopes (Dodgers affiliate).

Highlighting the week’s worth of promotions will be three fireworks shows, four Reading Club Games, Taco Bell Throwback Thursday, the first Autograph Day of the 2011 season, and “Paint the Park Purple Night” – a special Alzheimer’s Awareness evening at the ballpark during which the Sounds will wear purple jerseys on the field.

Saturday’s 6:35pm homestand opener begins with bang, as a postgame fireworks show lights up the sky following the action on the field, courtesy of Nashville’s NEWS2. It also marks the first Reading Club game of the season. With nearly 65,000 students from over 225 different schools enrolled in the program, thousands of local kids will be in attendance. TNA founder and wrestling star Jeff Jarrett will be in attendance as a guest speaker to promote the importance of reading before the game. Gates open at 5:35pm.

Easter Sunday afternoon’s 2:05pm matinee against the division-rival and newly-named Omaha Storm Chasers will be a Purity Sundae Sunday with $1.00 ice cream sundaes available at Greer Stadium. It is also Autograph Day, where a pre-game autograph session will take place on field with members of the Sounds team and coaching staff beginning at 1:35pm. It will also be another of Ozzie’s Kids Club games, the ultimate fan club for kids 12 and under. Gates open at 1:05pm.

The third game of the four-game series with Omaha starts at 7:05pm on Monday. Hot dogs are priced at only $1.00 at concession stands for Dollar Dog Night, while fans can register to win prizes and experiences involving Sounds manager Don Money for Money Monday. Gates open at 6:05pm.

Tuesday morning’s 11:05am contest is KRAFT Singles Tuesday Night Tickets, where fans are able to bring in a KRAFT Singles package wrapper/proof of purchase to the box office for a Buy One Ticket, Get One Free offer. Tuesday will be the second Reading Club game of the homestand, offering students the chance to participate in an on-field, pre-game parade with Ozzie. Students are eligible to win prizes for reaching “home plate” in the program. Gates open a half-hour earlier than normal at 9:35am.

After a scheduled off-day on Wednesday, the Sounds welcome the Albuquerque Isotopes for their first visit to Greer this season on Taco Bell Throwback Thursday. This fun promotion features Sounds players wearing retro 1980s-style uniforms while fans enjoy concession stands filled with discounted pricing, such as $2.00 beer, $2.00 soft drinks, $2.00 hot dogs, $2 popcorn, and $2.00 nachos. Beer sales will conclude at the end of the 6th inning, while Slugger’s Sports Bar will sell until the end of game. Fans with Taco Bell receipts and college students with valid college IDs will receive $5.00 general admission tickets to the game. Game time is 7:05pm and gates open at 6:05pm.

Friday’s 7:05pm contest offers another chance for kids to win prizes on the second Reading Club Game of the homestand. Combined with Firestone Friday Fireworks, Friday night is another can’t miss night at the ballpark with the Nashville Sounds! Gates open at 6:05pm.

Adding to the excitement of the homestand, Saturday’s 6:35pm contest with Albuquerque will end with a bang, as another fireworks show lights up the sky following the action on the field, courtesy of Nashville’s NEWS2.

The Nashville Sounds will be wearing purple jerseys in support of Alzheimer’s awareness. Fans have the opportunity to participate in a silent auction during the game in order to take home a player’s jersey right off his back following the contest. The auction begins when gates open at 5:35pm until the end of the sixth inning. All proceeds benefit the Alzheimer’s Association of Middle Tennessee.

Sunday afternoon’s 2:05pm homestand finale with the Isotopes offers another chance for kids to win prizes on the third Reading Club game of the homestand. Following the homestand, Nashville will begin an eight-game road trip with the Oklahoma City RedHawks (Astros affiliate) and Round Rock Express (Rangers affiliate) before returning to home on Tuesday, May 10th to host an eight-game homestand against the Fresno Grizzlies (Giants affiliate) and Sacramento River Cats (A’s affiliate).
