Officers Help Rescue a Family after Trees Collapse on Top of the Trailer

Clarksville Police DepartmentClarksville, TN – On April 20th, 2011, around 12:52am, the 911 Center received a desperate plea for help by a family after two trees fell onto their home at 1946 Batts Lane.

The caller, Sarah Kline, told the 911 call taker that a tree had fallen on the trailer and it collapsed, the roof was on top of her, she was bleeding, her eleven year old daughter and nine year old son were in the house, and they were all trapped.

Officers David Johnson and John Matos arrived on scene and saw a daunting sight. They saw two huge trees had crashed through the roof of the trailer. They immediately took action to enter the trailer without regard for their own personal safety.

They found Sarah Kline and her children trapped inside. The roof had fallen down onto a recliner and pinned the 11 year old so she could not move.  Sarah was confined by the roof being on top of her and unable to help her daughter. The nine year old had been able to crawl to his mother’s location. Officers Johnson and Matos, through great effort, were able to free Sarah and her children and evacuate them from the trailer.

Sarah and her children were transported to the hospital by EMS, but did not sustain any serious injuries.
