Clouds Break Up – Sun Shines for A Happy Easter Return for 287 Soldiers

Fort Campbell KY, 101st Airborne DivisionFort Campbell, KY – On a stormy day, the clouds parted way and let the sun shine for the return of 287 soldiers with the  1st Brigade Combat Team this morning. It looked as if everyone would need an umbrella to stay dry as heavy rains, thunder and lightning in the area. Just before the plane landed at Campbell Army Airfield, the rains stopped until after the ceremony was completed.

Children were doing the count down for the doors to open on this Easter Sunday as they were so excited to see there loved ones again after a year long deployment to Afghanistan.

A large crowd was on hand to wish the 287 soldiers with the 1st Brigade Combat Team a Happy Easter.

As soldiers stepped off the plane you could see the excitement as they waved to family members as the made their way towards the hanger. They were greeted by some wounded soldiers from their unit.  Once outside hanger 3, they dropped their gear and collected a yellow rose provided by the Navy Federal Credit Union.

Once inside the hanger Brigadier General Jeffrey N. Colt welcomed everyone home in a short speech to the soldiers. Afterwards everyone was allowed 15 minutes of family time before heading back to their unit to turn in their gear.

Stacey Garrett and her son were waiting on the arrival of her husband SGM  Patrick Garrett. Stacey had a Easter Party planned for when they arrived home.  SGM Garrett is happy to be home and be able to attend their daughters graduation on May 28th, 2011.
