BACH memorializes Classroom in honor of Fallen Soldier

Blanchfield Army Hospital - Fort Campbell KYFort Campbell, KY – May 13th marks a milestone for students going through the Interservice Physician Assistant Program (IPAP) clinical rotation at Blanchfield Army Community Hospital (BACH) with the memorialization of the Capt. Sean P. Grimes Physician Assistant Training Center.

Capt. Grimes was the first Physician Assistant (PA) to pay the ultimate sacrifice March 4th, 2005 while serving in Iraq. Grimes’ family and some of his military colleagues will attend the 1:00pm memorialization ceremony at BACH in honor of his service.

“The Grimes family graciously donated a portion of his life insurance benefits to establish scholarships for other Soldiers continuing in the Physician Assistant and nursing fields.  In addition, they also purchased the tasteful and practical furniture for the new PA training classroom at BACH,” said IPAP Clinical Coordinator for BACH Donald Black. “This classroom will allow PA students to expand their medical knowledge in a group setting after their clinical rotations at BACH.”

Since the inception of the IPAP, more than 400 PAs have trained at BACH, one of the largest training sites within the Department of Defense.

“It is a distinct honor to name Blanchfield Army Community Hospital’s PA Training Center, the CPT Sean P. Grimes PA-C PA Training Center, after this remarkable Soldier,” said Black.
