Clarksville Police are Investigating a Link Between a Home Invasion and a Deceased Man

Clarksville Police DepartmentClarksville, TN – On May 15th around 10:15pm, Police responded to a Poppy Drive residence in reference to a home invasion which may have been drug-related.

A masked man, dressed in black, entered the residence and an exchange of gunfire took place between the homeowner and the masked man. One of the men, who was a guest (in his 20s) at the Poppy Drive residence, was hit during the exchange of gunfire. At that time, the masked man and the guest both fled the residence.

The guest was located nearby and was taken by Lifeflight to a hospital. Detectives were investigating the home invasion on Poppy Drive when on May 16th, around 8:30am, a call came into 911 from a Mill Creek Road residence about a man laying in their backyard. The man was not moving and unresponsive.

When Police arrived, they found a deceased man dressed in black and wearing a mask with a firearm. He had sustained a gunshot wound. The man, identified as Darren James Yeager (H/M, DOB: 3/4/81) was wearing the same type mask and clothing as the home invader. At this time, it is believed that Yeager was involved in the home invasion of the Poppy Drive residence. 

The guest from Poppy Drive is in stable condition.

There is no additional information to release. Investigators are working together on the Home invasion and Homicide.

The leads on the home invasion are Detectives Javier Matiz and Eric Ewing and the lead on the Homicide is Detective Tim Anderson.
