Hands on Clarksville and The Center for Nonprofit Management to hold Nonprofit Training Workshops

Hands On ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – Hands on Clarksville and the Nonprofit Partnership Network’s July meeting will include a special training opportunity offered by The Center for Nonprofit Managment (CNM). CNM is offering the training to Montgomery County and surrounding areas.

The two, 2 1/2 hour workshops will provide information on the basics of grant writing and community partnerships. The goal of the these workshops is to help the community better understand the grant process and pursue collaborations with local business partners during these challenging economic times.

The workshop is good for Nonprofit Excutive Directors, Development Directors,Board Members and staff. The workshop will be held on July 14th, 2011 at the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library, 350 Pageant Lane. Registration begins at 9:30am and workshops start at 10:00am.

Workshops

Session 1- Basic Grant Writing (10:00am-12:30pm) is a hands-on session, participants will assess organizational readiness, review private versus public funding sources, discuss the 10/60 rule, address the proposals fundamentals and critique grants. This workshop provides practical help with the fundamentals of writing grant proposals and locating funding  sources. Dr. Bernard, Turner, Assistant Professor and Director, Center for Social Enterpreneurship and Service Learning, Belmont University. Fee; $15.00.

Session 2- Cultivating Community Partnerships (1:00pm-3:30pm) will be led by Kim Carpenter Drake, Vice President of External Affairs, CNM. In today’s marketplace, companies are searching for more than must pretty face and great mission- what they really want is exposure and market reach. Successful partnerships start with developing a strategy for finding good prospects and cultivating them. The class will explore the importance of building relationships with local businesses and the methods for maximizing thos partnerships. Fee, $15.00.
