Several APSU faculty, staff noted for achievements

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Several faculty and staff members at Austin Peay State University were noted recently for various achievements, appointments and accomplishments.

Carol Clark, director of Community and Business Relations and executive assistant to the president, was appointed by the Montgomery County Commission to serve on the Clarksville-Montgomery County Library Board.

Dr. Linda Davis, associate professor of languages and literature, had her review of a book, titled “Content and Language Integrated Learning Evidence from Research in Europe” and edited by Yolanda Ruiz and Rosa Maria Jeminex Catalan, published online June 21st, 2011. The review will appear in the published Summer 2011 edition of The Modern Language Journal under reviews of books related to theory and practice.

Dr. Tristan Denley, provost and vice president of academic affairs, was presented with the Mobilization Visionary Leadership Award at the Tennessee Apple Education Summit held in June at Walter State Community College.

Dr. Thomas King, professor of music, returned recently from a “European Music at the Source” international summer course/trip in Austria and Italy. His wife, Dr. Vicki King, assistant professor of music at Tennessee State University, led and taught a course about Viennese music in Vienna, Austria, and early Italian operas composed in Florence, Italy. Thomas King was a guest lecturer and performer, singing the music of Vienna and Florence and explaining the origins of the music there.

Khandra Smalley, adjunct marketing instructor in the College of Business, was appointed by the Montgomery County Commission to serve on the Clarksville-Montgomery County Library Board.
