Clarksville, TN– On August 16th, 2011, around 6:56am, 911 received a call a vehicle parked behind a business located at 45 Crossland Avenue. The caller stated that the car had its doors open, and there was possibly a person inside.
When officers arrived on scene, they found a 1995 Honda that had run into the side of a small shed. Approaching the vehicle the officers found the body of an African American male inside.
Clarksville Police Officers then began going through the crime scene looking for evidence, including running the police K-9’s over the scene.
The man was later identified as Douglas James Deante Ramey, a 27 year old Clarksville Resident. Once the next of kin were notified, Clarksville Police Department spokesman Officer Jim Knoll released the name of the victim to the media.
Even before the name of the victim was released, family and friends had began to gather at the crime scene, standing in groups just outside of the police line. Emotions were running high with public exclamations of both frustration with the lack of information coming from the police, and highly visible anger at who ever may have “murdered” this young man.
This “unattended death” is being investigated as a homicide. The lead investigator is Detective Tim Finley. Anyone with information on this crime should contact him at 931.648.0656, ext 4008 or the TIPSLINE 931.645.8477.
