2011 Operation Rising Star begins August 24th

Operation Rising StarFort Campbell, KY – Local competitions for the 2011 Operation Rising Star singing contest begins next week, August 24th at the Sportsman’s Lodge from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. Support our local talent as they battle in the Army’s premier singing competition. Your vote will decide who leaves and who moves on.

The competition, similar to the popular television show “American Idol” and televised on The Pentagon Channel, is open to Morale, Welfare and Recreation patrons from all branches of the U.S. military, including Family members 18-and-older.

The grand-prize winner will receive an all-expenses-paid trip for two to Los Angeles to record a three-song demo compact disc. The trip includes air fare, lodging, $1,000 spending money and three days and nights of studio time with the support of top-rate musicians and recording technicians.

The winner from the local competition will get a chance to compete for the grand prize in the televised finals.

Local Cash Prizes

  • 1st Place – $500.00 (plus submission for army wide Finals)
  • 2nd Place – $250.00
  • 3rd Place – $100.00

The most supportive Unit or Family Readiness Group (FRG) will win a $300.00 cash Spirit Award! There will be prizes to the audience as well.
