Parks and Recreation closures for Labor Day
Please take note, the City of Clarksville’s three community centers and Parks & Recreation office will be closed on Monday, Sept. 5, in observance of Labor Day.
Collin Raye to Headline Riverfest 2011
Join us for The City of Clarksville’s 24th Annual Riverfest Celebration September 9 & 10! This two-day music and art festival takes place along the Cumberland River at McGregor Park. This FREE event features delicious food, activities for kids of all ages and multiple stages of live entertainment, which includes country music singer, Collin Raye! Don’t miss the festival’s other fun activities, such as the Riverfest Regatta, Lighted Boat Parade, Cornhole Tournament and much more! Youth Basketball League
Is your child interested in playing basketball this winter? The youth league is open to ages 7 to 17 and costs $55 per player. This fee covers the department’s costs for jerseys, officials, awards and equipment. Players will be drafted onto teams on October 27. New registrants must bring their birth certificate for age verification.
Registration begins September 19 and ends October 17. New this year, registration can be completed online from the comfort of your home at recpro.cityofclarksville.com. Registration can also be done at the Kleeman, Crow and Burt Cobb Community Centers, as well as at the Parks & Recreation Main Office located at 102 Public Square. The Main Office is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Practices begin November 1 and games begin December 3. If you’re more interested in a leadership role on the court, Parks & Recreation is also seeking Youth League coaches. All interested coaches may contact Tina Boysha at the Parks & Recreation Main Office.
Toddlers in Action
Looking for a way to stimulate your toddlers learning while allowing them to interact with other toddlers? Kleeman Community Center offers “Toddlers in Action,” which meets from 10 to 11 a.m. every Thursday. The class is open to toddlers ages 2-4. The cost is $3 per class.
Jammin’ in the Alley & Night Market
The City of Clarksville, together with U.S. Bank, will be Jammin’ in Strawberry Alley on Friday, September 16, and it will once again feature vendors from Clarksville’s weekly Downtown Market. Vendors will be set up from 5 to 8 p.m., and the free concert featuring August Christopher will begin at 7 p.m. In addition to the live music and market vendors, downtown restaurants will offer outdoor dining for Jammin’ in the Alley and night market patrons.
Movies in the Park
Join us for the next Movies in the Park event Saturday, September 17, at Heritage Park Soccer Fields. The event will feature the hit movie, “Open Season.” All movies start at dusk, and pre-show activities beginning an hour prior. Admission is free.

Stroller Time makes a return to the Clarksville Greenway
Calling all parents and children! Join us every Tuesday morning from 8 to 9 a.m. at the Clarksville Greenway for “stroller time.” This free program allows for interactions while exercising in a beautiful environment. Stroller time will meet at the Pollard Road trailhead, located at 1101 Pollard Road, for five weeks beginning September 20.
