Clarksville Fire Rescue to host Clarksville’s 9/11 Memorial Ceremony

Clarksville, TN – 101st Airborne Division Commanding General James McConville and Homeland Security Deputy Director Rick Shipkowski will be the featured speakers at the City of Clarksville’s 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony hosted by Clarksville Fire Rescue.

The ceremony to mark the 10-year anniversary of the 9/11 attacks will begin at 6:00pm. on Sunday, September 11th, in front of the Main Fire Station at 802 Main St. Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan, City Council members and other local dignitaries are scheduled to attend.

Clarksville Fire Rescue Fire Fighters, Kenneth Keaton, and Mitchell Kelly are organizing the event with assistance of Deanna McLaughlin.

Prior to the ceremony, Clarksville Fire Rescue will host an Open House, which will begin at 3:00pm The Open House will feature displays of antique vehicles and equipment, as well as search and rescue K-9 demonstrations. Various activities will be available for children, such as inflatables and a climbing wall. Mascots like Sparky the Fire Dog, Ollie the Otter and Tennessee Bear also will be on hand.

The 101st Airborne Screaming Eagle Band will be performing throughout the afternoon.

Additional parking will be available at Austin Peay State University parking lots on College and Eighth streets. Handicap parking also will be available.
