Whether you want to relax on one of two enchanting lakes, camp with the family on a weekend getaway, hike with friends on one of it’s scenic trails, or plan a group wildlife viewing adventure, Land Between The Lakes has something you are sure to enjoy.

With more than 170,000 acres and 300 miles of undeveloped shoreline, why not let Land Between The Lakes be your getaway place?

There are several Special Programs going on through the month of September at LBL.

September 1st-30th

Planetarium Shows – Golden Pond Planetarium – Daytime shows: Ages 13 & up $4.00; Ages 5-12: $2.00

  • Far Out Space Places – Daily at 1:00pm
  • Laser- Legends of the Night Sky – Daily at 12:00pm
  • Two Small Pieces of Glass – Daily at 3:00pm
  • The Skies Above – Daily at 10:00am
  • Journey to the Edge of Space & Time – Daily at 2:00pm

Saturday, September 10th

11:00am Become a Snake-ologist! – Nature Station Program free with NS admission.

1:00pm-3:00pm Homeplace Scavenger Hunt – Homeplace Program free with HP admission.

3:00pm Wildlife Jeopardy – Nature Station Program free with NS admission.

5:30pm-8:00pm Sunset Canoe Trip – Location TBA
$25.00 per canoe. Includes same day NS admission. Registration limited. Reservations and full deposits required. Call 270-924-2020 to reserve your space and for meeting location. Weather permitting.

Sunday, September 11th

2:00pm A Walk with the Animals: The Historic Breeds of The Homeplace – Homeplace

3:00pm Bat Hour – Nature Station Program free with NS admission.

Saturday, September 17th

10:00am-4:00pm Elk & Bison Prairie Celebration – Golden Pond Visitors Center & Elk & Bison Prairie

Program free for all LBL visitors. Celebrate the wonders and history of The Elk and Bison Prairie at the Golden Pond Visitor Center with hands-on displays, a prairie photo display, demonstrations, and children’s activities.

Saturday & Sunday, September 17th & 18th

Teacher Appreciation Weekend – Homeplace, Nature Station, & Golden Pond Planetarium

Free admission to HP, NS, and GPP for current teachers, retired teachers, home educators, and their immediate families. Please bring a faculty ID card, school letterhead, or another means to identify yourself.

Saturday, September 17th

11:30am Truly Talon-ted – Nature Station Program free with NS admission

1:00pm The Shaving Horse – Homeplace

2:15pm Elk in Kentucky and Tennessee – Nature Station

Sunday, September 18th

1:00pm “Wascally” Weasels – Nature Station

1:00pm-4:00pm Literature in 1850 – Homeplace

Monday, September 19th – Friday, September 23rd

1:00pm Week of Harvest at The Homeplace – Homeplace
The Homeplace is “puttin” by the garden and making ready for a long winter. During this week of harvest join us as we work in the garden or prepare foods for winter storage. Activities will depend on the weather. 

Thursday, September 22nd

1:00pm Amazing Monarchs – Nature Station

Program free with NS admission. Space is limited for the optional tour, so advanced registration is recommended. Call 270.924.2020 to reserve your space.  Discover the amazing life of the monarch butterfly during this family-friendly program.

Friday, September 23rd

Saturday, September 24th – National Public Lands Day (NPLD)

Organic Gardening – Homeplace Invited Artist: Charles Berryhill, Organic Gardening Specialist

Although set in the 1850’s, The Homeplace has long been the promoter of earth-friendly programs including our heirloom vegetables and field crops program. 

11:00am Hiking How-To’s and Critter Clues – Nature Station Program free with NS admission.

2:15pm Bald Is Beautiful:  The Bald Eagle – Nature Station Program free with NS admission.

Saturday, September 24th

9:00am-4:00pm Nature Watch Series: Hidden Spots of LBL – Leaves from Kenlake State Resort Park Lobby

Sunday, September 25th

1:00pm Farm Built Containers – Homeplace  Program free with HP admission.
