Austin Peay State UniversityAntwaun MajorsClarksville, TN – Antwaun Majors, a junior on the Austin Peay State University football team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

The Mt. Juliet native was credited with 11 tackles, including seven solo stops, in Saturday night’s 23-17 victory over Eastern Kentucky. Late in the fourth quarter, Majors came up big intercepting a pass at the Governors’ four-yard line, to halt the Colonels scoring chance.

For his efforts the junior was named the Ohio Valley Conference’s “Defensive Player of the Week.”

The 5-10, 179 pound free safety, who was the team co-leader in tackles a year ago, again leads the Governors in that category with 23 for the season.

The Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week is selected by the APSU Sports Information staff each Tuesday during the academic year. Copies in a Flash, of Clarksville, sponsors the award.

Other notable performances by Austin Peay athletes included:

Sophomore Trey Tarpley, of the men’s golf team, was named OVC “Men’s Golfer of the Week.” Tarpley finished third at Kentucky’s UK Bluegrass Fall Invitational, last week, leading the Governors to a fifth-place team finish. In the final round the junior scored a career-best 67.

Junior Devin Stark, of the football team, had three touchdown catches in the Governors victory against Eastern Kentucky. That is the first time a Governors receiver had three touchdowns in a game since 2008 when Darryl Miller had three touchdowns against Tennessee Tech.

Senior Ryan White, of the football team had his 11th career 100-yard rushing performance as he rushed for 132 yards on 27 carries against Eastern Kentucky. On the season White has 283 yards rushing.

Senior Ilyanna Hernandez, of the volleyball team, recorded a career-high 25 kills against SIU Edwardsville Saturday. She also had a service ace and three blocks in the contest. That followed a nine-kill (.267) performance against Eastern Illinois.
