Governors set to run without Yator at Thorobred Stampede

Austin Peay State University GovernorsFrankfort, KY – Austin Peay State University men’s cross country team again heads north for Kentucky State’s Thorobred Stampede eight-kilometer race, 3:30pm, Friday, at the Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives.

The Governors will be without leading runner Boniface Yator due to academic conflicts.

“We are going to be without Boniface this weekend and that will make things interesting,” said head coach Doug Molnar. “We are going to need the other runners to step up and get things done.”

Coming off what Molnar said was his best race of the year, Junior Geofrey Kosgei looks to lead the way for the Governors with Yator not competing. Kosgei finished in 57th-place last week in a field of 285 runners.

At last week’s Greater Louisville Cross Country Classic’s the Governors finished behind all four other Ohio Valley Conference schools (Southeast Missouri, SIU-Edwardsville, UT Martin, and Morehead State) that ran in the event. This week the Governors will again see Ohio Valley Conference competition as Tennessee State is also scheduled to participate.
