Man Threatening Suicide is Negotiated Out

Clarksville Police DepartmentClarksville, TN – On October 10th, 2011, around 5:30pm, officers responded to a 911 call in which a 23 year old man was threatening to commit suicide with a shotgun at an apartment on the 2600 Block of Union Hall Road.

When officers arrived at the apartment and established contact with the man, they found out that the man had a loaded shotgun, was in the apartment alone, and refused to come out. Officers cordoned off the area and called negotiators and the tactical team to the scene.

Detective Demone Chestnut was the lead negotiator and after about 2 1/2 hours was finally able to convince the 23 year old to voluntarily come out of the apartment without incident. No one was harmed and the situation was resolved around 7:50pm.
