Hands on Clarksville and the Nonprofit Partnership Network connect nonprofit organizations with volunteers and local businesses at 1st annual “Connecting for Good” Fair

Hands On ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – Hands on Clarksville and the Nonprofit Partnership Network will hold its first annual “Connecting for Good,” Resource Fair designed to connect nonprofit organizations with local businesses and the community. The event will be held on Tuesday, November 8th, 2011 from 11:00am-4:00pm, at the Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce Office located at 25 Jefferson Street in the Green Bank.

Most people recognize that Clarksville-Montgomery County’s nonprofit sector—a rich array of organizations of diverse sizes and purposes deliver crucial services that bring hope and help to some of our community’s most vulnerable citizens. But what is not so well known is that the sector is also a major economic force whose vitality contributes in countless ways to both the social and economic health of our community.

During these challenging economic times, community-based and nonprofit organizations are facing cuts in public revenues and other funding. It is no longer possible for the nonprofit sector to meet the rising needs-alone! At times like this nonprofits look for new ways to strengthen and maximize the community impact of their programs by connecting to their community. So, at times like these we need the generosity, assistance and helping hands from the whole community.

The “Connecting for Good” Resource Fair hopes to encourage mutually beneficial relationships that promote collaboration among the various community sectors. The all-day event will showcase local nonprofit organizations and associations that support our community. It is a one-stop event for businesses and nonprofits to learn about each other collaborate and find new ways to increase community impact and sustainability for the future. Area nonprofits will be on hand to share information about community needs and volunteer opportunities with their particular organizations.

The event is sponsored by Hemlock Semiconductor Young Professionals Group and the Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce.
