Edmondson shines during Reigning Red

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – TyShwan Edmondson scored 13 points to rally the Black team past the White team, 46-42, Friday night in the annual Reigning Red, Austin Peay State University’s basketball tipoff.

The Lady Govs did not scrimmage, Friday night as the team has been limited by injuries in the preseason. In addition, juniors Meghan Bussabarger and Kaitlyn Hill were excused to attend to family matters back in their respective home states.

Edmondson, the first-team All-Ohio Valley Conference guard, got off to a slow start in the early going but his late-game scoring brought the Black team from an eight-point deficit-he scored six straight points to give the Black team the lead. He had help from fellow senior Melvin Baker, the forward who knocked down a pair of three pointers in scoring 12 points. Freshman guard Herdie Lawrence added eight points.

For the White team, sophomore forward Will Triggs bulled his way inside for 13 points, using a variety of moves to get to the basketball. Juco transfer point guard Jerome Clyburn added eight points and four assists.
