Pedestrian Killed on Fort Campbell Boulevard

Clarksville Police DepartmentClarksville, TN – On October 15th, 2011, around 5:17am, Christopher Rutherford, 24, of Clarksville, driving a 2011 Ford F-150, was traveling south on Fort Campbell Boulevard when he saw a male pedestrian standing in his lane of travel. The 27 year old pedestrian was wearing dark clothing and looking down at cell phone in his hand.

Christopher Rutherford swerved in an attempt to avoid hitting the pedestrian and despite his efforts, he collided with the pedestrian in the southbound lane across from the Winner Circle Motel, 3430 Fort Campbell Boulevard (closest intersection is Durrett Drive). The pedestrian died at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing. As a normal part of the investigation, blood was drawn at the scene and will be submitted for analysis to determine whether alcohol or drugs were a factor.  

The lead investigator is Officer Bill Van Beber, 931.648.0656.
