Austin Peay State University Lady GovsGermantown, TN – Suffering through its worst fall round, Austin Peay State University women’s golf team sits in 12th place after the first round of the Memphis Fall Invitational, being played at the Ridgeway Country Club.

The tourney’s second round was suspended because of darkness. A heavy Monday morning fog caused more than a two-hour delay for tourney start. The second round will be concluded Tuesday along with the final round in the 54-hole event, being played on the par-71, 6,150-yard layout.

The Lady Govs will attempt to rebound from a struggling 343 first round, which saw not one APSU golfer break 80. Junior Holly Batey had the team low round with an 84 followed by sophomore Rachel Deaton (85), who was forced to withdraw from the second round with ongoing feet issues.

Senior Ashley Averitt also shot an 85 while both junior Lauren Bond and sophomore Tabitha Beard came in with 89s. Sophomore Tala Mumford, playing as an individual, shot an 87.

Sam Houston State led after the first round with a 302, followed by host Memphis (304) with Xavier (308) and Butler (310) close behind in the 12-team event.
