White Named CIAF Athlete of the Week

Austin Peay State UniversityRyan WhiteClarksville, TN – Ryan White, a senior on the Austin Peay State University football team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

The Nashville native, rushed for 146 yards on 20 carries and two touchdowns in the Governors shutout victory, Saturday, against Central State.

On Senior Day the senior running back wasted little time in collecting his 14th career 100-yard rushing performance as he broke the 100-yard mark with over five minutes to play in the second quarter.

White had five carries that went for at least 10 yards including a 31-yard rush that was his game’s longest. The Governors ground game, led by White amassed 407 yards on 57 carries; it was the most rushing yards in a game by the Govs since Nov. 23, 1996, when the Governors rushed for 554 yards against UT Martin.

The Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week is selected by the APSU Sports Information staff each Tuesday during the academic year. Copies in a Flash, of Clarksville, sponsors the award.

Other notable performances by Austin Peay athletes included:

Senior Ilyanna Hernandez, of the volleyball team was named the adidas Ohio Valley Conference Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week after leading Austin Peay in kills against both Tennessee State (15 kills) and UT Martin (26 kills) last week. Her 26-kill performance at UT Martin, Saturday, was a career-best and tied for the second-best offensive performance in the league this season.

Sophomore Tee Howell, of the football team returned a punt 65 yards for a touchdown, Saturday, against Central State. Howell also had three carries for 52 yards in the Governors victory.

Senior John Fraley, of the basketball team recorded a double-double scoring 15 -points and grabbing 11-rebounds in the Governors victory Thursday against Central Missouri. Fraley also controlled the defensive paint with four blocked shots on the night.

Senior Josh Terry, of the men’s basketball team, led the Governors in points (20) and assists (5) in the Governors victory Thursday against Central Missouri.
