Mariani Named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week

 

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – Titans wide receiver Marc Mariani has been named the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week after returning a punt 79 yards for a touchdown in Tennessee’s 30-3 victory at Carolina on Sunday.

It marks the second time Mariani has been recognized for the award. He earned the honor last year after he returned a punt 87 yards for a touchdown against the Washington Redskins on November 21st, 2010. «Read the rest of this article»

Austin Peay State University featured on cover of new AT&T Clarksville Phone Directory

 

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University is featured on the cover of the new AT&T Real Yellow Pages directory serving Clarksville and surrounding communities.

APSU is the first to appear on the Real Yellow Pages’ newly designed cover, which was unveiled November 16th during a public announcement on campus. The photograph depicts the excitement of men’s basketball at APSU, one of 15 sports programs offered by the University.

Tennessee Highway Patrol Urges Motorist to Watch Out for Deer

 

November is Worst Month for Deer-Related Crashes

The Tennessee Highway Patrol LogoNashville, TN – As part of its traffic safety education campaign, the Tennessee Highway Patrol is reminding motorists to be vigilant of deer on the roadways. The fall is the most active time of the year for deer due to mating and hunting season, and State Troopers caution that an increase in deer-related crashes is likely through December.

The average annual deer crashes for Montgomery County from 2006-2010 was 307, the highest in the state.

Austin Peay Governors Baseball turn to junior college ranks for southpaw Hall

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s baseball team has turned to the junior college ranks for an addition to its pitching staff, adding Zach Hall, of Troy, IL, who has signed a national letter of intent.

Hall, a 6-1, 185-pound, left-handed pitcher, finished his freshman campaign at Parkland College with a 6-1 record and 4.11 ERA. He recorded 44 strikeouts and 23 walks in 50.1 innings pitched as the Cobras reached the National Junior College Athletic Association’s Region 24 semifinals.

NASA Probe Data Show Evidence Of Liquid Water On Icy Europa

 

NASA - National Aeronautics and Space AdministrationWashington, D.C. – Data from a NASA planetary mission have provided scientists evidence of what appears to be a body of liquid water, equal in volume to the North American Great Lakes, beneath the icy surface of Jupiter’s moon, Europa.

The data suggest there is significant exchange between Europa’s icy shell and the ocean beneath. This information could bolster arguments that Europa’s global subsurface ocean represents a potential habitat for life elsewhere in our solar system. The findings are published in the scientific journal Nature.

Knoxville standout Kramer signs with Austin Peay Governors Golf

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University men’s golf team will add to its apparent depth by signing Austin Kramer, of Knoxville, to a National Letter of Intent for the 2012-13 season.

Kramer is an experienced young golfer that has played in number or competitive junior golf events. He’s played with the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA), the All-American Junior Golf Tour (AAJGT) and the Southeastern Junior Golf Tour (SJGT). As a junior at Halls High School, Kramer posted a stroke average at .53 shots over par.

NASA Legends Awarded Congressional Gold Medal

 

NASA - National Aeronautics and Space AdministrationWashington, D.C. – Leaders of Congress honored astronauts John Glenn, Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins with congressional gold medals in a ceremony in the Capitol Rotunda on November 16th, 2011. The Gold Medal, Congress’ highest expression of national appreciation for distinguished achievements and contributions, was first given to George Washington in 1776.

Glenn was the first American to orbit the Earth, achieving the feat aboard Friendship 7 on February 20th, 1962. On July 20th, 1969, Armstrong and Aldrin became the first humans to set foot on the Moon, while Collins piloted Apollo 11’s command module.

Four Austin Peay Lady Govs Volleyball players receive postseason OVC recognition

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsBrentwood, TN – Four Austin Peay State University volleyball student-athletes were named to the Ohio Valley Conference’s postseason all-conference teams, the league office announced, Wednesday.

Junior outside hitter Nikki Doyle and senior libero Paige Economos each received All-OVC recognition. Setter Cami Fields and middle blocker Hillary Plybon, each freshmen, were named to the league’s All-Newcomer squad.

Toyota is recalling certain model 2004-2006 Vehicles

 

National Highway Traffic Safety AdministrationWashington, D.C. – Toyota is recalling certain model year 2004 Avalon vehicles; 2004 and 2005 Camry, Camry Solara, Highlander, and Sienna vehicles, 2006 Highlander Hybrid; 2004 and 2005 Lexus ES330 and RX330; and 2006 Lexus RX400h vehicles manufactured from June 1st, 2004 through March 31st, 2005, equipped with the 1MZ-FE or 3MZ-FE engine.

The amount of adhesive agent applied between the outer ring and the torsional rubber damper (inner ring) in the crankshaft pulley may be inadequate. If the adhesive is insufficient, there is a possibility that the outer ring may become misaligned and it may not properly rotate with the inner ring, causing noise and/or illumination of the battery discharge indicator light. «Read the rest of this article»
