Charlie Koon elected President of the 2012 Class of Leadership Middle Tennessee

Leadership Middle TennesseeMurfreesboro, TN – Charlie Koon, Chief of Staff for the City of Clarksville, has been elected President of the 2012 Class of Leadership Middle Tennessee.

Koon has been committed to serving the area’s residents throughout his career.  Before joining the Mayor’s office, he held several positions with Cumberland Bank & Trust and was also the owner of Mary’s Music. His community service includes the Clarksville Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis Club, United Way, Riverfest Entertainment Committee and Leadership Clarksville.

He is also a member of the inaugural class of the Transit Citizen Leadership Academy at Lipscomb University.  In 2008, Charlie received the Citizen of the Year Award from the City of Clarksville.

“I’m not at all surprised that Charlie was selected by his peers to lead this year’s Leadership Middle Tennessee class,” said Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan.  “He has been a dedicated leader his entire life, even before he was a member of the Austin Peay Student Government.  Charlie understands the importance of building relationships with leaders in our region and sharing ideas for Clarksville’s continued growth.”

Leadership Middle Tennessee seeks to inform and develop regional-based leadership through networking, collaboration and strategic thinking. Leaders from Cheatham, Davidson, Dickson, Maury, Montgomery, Robertson, Rutherford, Sumner, Williamson and Wilson counties attend ten sessions addressing current issues in the area’s development. The group will be in Clarksville on November 16th and 17th to discuss education and workforce development.
