“It was a real pleasure for the members of the Clarksville Civil War Roundtable to be able to raise the funds for the first picnic table for Fort Defiance,” said Greg Biggs, Clarksville Civil War Roundtable President. “In addition to its history, this site also has real beauty with the view of the city, the trees and the walking path and to be able to sit down and enjoy a nice lunch or dinner there is a real treat for us all.  This table will add to that experience.”

The City and the Department of Parks & Recreation are very appreciative that groups like this exist who truly care about the community and help to improve those things that they are passionate about. “They saw an immediate need and took it upon themselves to raise the dollars in a very timely manner to enhance the Fort Defiance Civil War Park and Interpretive Center, said Parks & Recreation Director, Mark Tummons. “Without groups like the Civil War Round Table, we would continually be behind the curve and they are to be highly commended.”
