Golden Pond, KY – Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area presents the seasonal Nature Watch Series. Come enjoy abundant wildlife viewing opportunities as we take outdoor enthusiasts to hidden corners to witness nature’s greatest moments.
The series starts December 10th with Unusual Winter Migrants. Some of the unusual migratory birds include pelicans, ruddy ducks and more.

Winter Wanderers: Unusual Winter Migrants

Winter Wanderers: Eagles & Waterfowl Migration
January 14th & 15th, 2012
Winter brings some of the best wildlife viewing experiences as eagles, mergansers, loons, and more converge on LBL. On Saturday, we will search out wintering eagles during a History of Eagles in LBL Tour and a Cross Creeks National Wildlife Refuge Waterfowl Tour. $40.00/person, lunch included. Limited to 16 visitors. On Sunday, there will be an optional Eagle River Cruise for an additional $60/person. Cruise leaves from Kenlake SRP Marina.

Cross Creeks National Wildlife Refuge Tour

One of the best wildlife-viewing hotspots in our area is Cross Creeks National Wildlife Refuge in TN. Let’s explore this bottomland habitat in search of harriers, sandhill cranes, eagles, & thousands of migrating ducks. Morning is your best shot

Pelicans & Eagles

Tints of green dotted amongst the trees indicate a crucial moment for Kentucky’s two largest birds. Pelicans begin their long journey north and bald eagles begin to nest. Warbler Weekend

Southern breezes and gentle rains bring out some spectacular winged wonders, like warblers and other songbirds. Join us in search of tanagers, towhees, and Tennessees. Scan the treetops for parulas, prothonotaries, and pewees. Experience
the immense natural diversity of the LBL region as we seek out hidden hotspots. On Sunday, we will stop by Woodlands Nature Station for some breakfast and birding. Tours start at Lake Barkley State Resort Park.
