Dance Theatre of Tennessee and Bridgestone Americas Trust Fund presents the Montgomery county leg of its touring production of “The Nutcracker”

Dance Theatre of TennesseeClarksville, TN – The sparkling magic of the season comes to life in Dance Theatre of Tennessee’s enchanting version of The Nutcracker. Highlighted by Tchaikovsky’s brilliant score, the irresistible story of young Clara, a special gift and her fanciful dream to a world of sugary confections has charmed generations. Dance Theatre of Tennessee brings this endearing holiday classic with brand new sets and costumes for the first time in Clarksville!

Performances here in Montgomery County are scheduled on December 10th, 2011, Saturday, 2:00pm and 7:00pm. Performances will be held at Clement Auditorium located at Austin Peay University. The Montgomery County performance is part of their four (4) county performance tour that includes Sumner, Dickson and Rutherford counties.

Dance Theatre of Tennessee, a 501c3 charitable and tax-exempt non-profit is Middle Tennessee’s most exciting and fresh professional dance organization. Led by Artistic Director/Founder and longtime Nashville Premier Principal Dancer Christopher Mohnani and resident choreographer Brian Williamson, the Nutcracker is a narrated version of the full-length ballet The Nutcracker.

It provides an opportunity for the community to usher the holiday season in a more relatable, accessible and affordable way. It also provides the local youth an opportunity to perform and participate and start a holiday tradition they can call their own. It had its successful performance and premiere in several counties last year, where the buzz and response from the community was very overwhelming and signaled the start of a new holiday tradition.

Youth performers come from different parts of Montgomery county and neighboring cities with some even coming all the way from Kentucky are joining a group of 30 professional performers. A surprise celebrity narrator lends its voice to add to the magic of this wonderful holiday tradition.

Clarksville Mayor, Kim McMillan and Beach Oil Company Inc. General Manager, Larry Hankins will perform the famous role of the Mother Ginger in select performances. In addition, young audience members are invited to come and partake on a Nutcracker story time at the lobby during the afternoon performances and have their pictures taken with the Sugar Plum Fairy.

The Montgomery performance of DTT’s “The Nutcracker” are also presented in part by Gateway Cast and Crowns, Beach Oil Company Inc., US Bank and First Advantage Bank. Tickets are available by visiting www.ticketsnashville.com. General admission tickets are $15.00 for adults and $10.00 for children if purchased online, $20.00 for adults and $15.00 for children if purchased at the door. Special discount per person will be offered at the door to Military families with proper identification.
