Clarksville, TN – Montgomery Central senior boys golfer Hunter Rye will be joining the Trevecca University Men’s Golf team next year after signing his Letter of Intent to play for the school Monday morning.
“I’m really excited about going to Trevecca,” Rye said. “I think it’s a good school and I’m just happy to be going there.”
Rye, who ended his career with a 37.3 stroke average, had tons of success his last two seasons.
He was a state qualifier after the 2010-11 season and finished tied for 20th with three others in the Class A-AA State Golf Tournament with two-day total of 160 (83-77).
This season he finished in the top 10 in Region 5 A-AA Tournament, but missed going to the state tournament for a second straight season.
He was also named to The Leaf-Chronicle’s Boys All-Area Golf Team the past two seasons.
While Rye is sad to see his high school career end, he’s excited about moving on the play in college.
“It’s partly sad that my high school career is over, but this is a stepping stone and I’m glad I’m moving forward with my golfing career,” Rye said.
Rye chose Trevecca over Bryant College and Martin Methodist.
