The Cardinals return to action seeking a return to the .500 mark – falling behind the mark with two losses in their last three games. Austin Peay is 0-1 against the Mid-America Conference this season after losing at Bowling Green, Friday. Ball State is 1-1 against the Ohio Valley Conference with a loss to SIU Edwardsville and a victory against Murray State.

Seniors rally Austin Peay Governors Basketball to first-ever win against the Tennessee Vols

Austin Peay State University GovernorsKnoxville, TN – Led by a quartet of seniors, Austin Peay State University scored the game’s final eight points as it stunned Tennessee, 74-70, Saturday afternoon in a non-conference basketball contest played at Thompson-Boling Arena.

It was Austin Peay’s first win in nine games of the cross-state series. It also was Austin Peay’s second straight win after opening the season with nine consecutive losses. Tennessee lost its third straight as it fell to 3-5 the season.

Man Booked on Criminal Conspiracy to Commit Homicide

Tennessee Celebrates National Guard’s 375th Birthday

 

Tennessee Military DepartmentNashville, TN – On December 13th, the Tennessee Military Department will celebrate the 375th Birthday of the National Guard, the country’s oldest military organization.

The National Guard’s Citizen-Soldiers have a long and proud history that took root in the nation’s colonial beginnings.

During the 1630s, British settlements in North America were primarily limited to areas along the Atlantic coast. As colonists expanded west into the interior of the country, they often faced armed conflict with Native Americans. Colonists were often responsible for their own defense and organized into separate militia companies to defend against Indian attacks. Celebrate the Holiday at Austin Peay State University with annual Vienna in Clarksville Concert December 11th

 

APSU Department of MusicClarksville, TN –  For more than 100 years, the Vienna Philharmonic has set aside New Year’s Day as a time to perform uplifting holiday pieces by Johann Strauss and his family. It has become one of the great traditions in all of music, earning a sizable television audience in America in recent years, but a new, similar tradition has taken hold in Clarksville.

Clarksville High Wrestling Results against Rossview, Franklin

The Wildcats beat Rossview in one dual meet 43-24, but lost to Franklin 37-32.

Clarksville High hosts Slamfest at 9:00am Saturday at Clarksville High school.

Local programs Montgomery Central, Northwest and Rossview will be participating along with District 10-AAA rival Dickson County. Also in the event are Arlington, Beech, Brentwood, Collierville, Hendersonville, Mt. Juliet, Notre Dame, Overton, Ravenwood and Red Bank.

The night was full of pomp and circumstance following the long traditions of a formal military ball. The colors were posted and “The Star Spangled Banner” played followed by a moment of silence for the missing and fallen.
