Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – The weekly Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department Recreation Report provides Clarksvillians with a glimpse at the activities and events that are available from the Parks and Recreation Department for them to enjoy together as a family.

This weeks highlights include:

Pictures with Santa

Santa ClausThis holiday season, kids can have their pictures taken for FREE with the jolly old man himself, Santa, at three of our community centers. Bring your own camera to take pictures from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, December 13th- Kleeman, December 14th- Crow, and December 15th- Burt-Cobb.

Join us for games, snacks, and lots of fun!

Silver Social- December 17th

Senior's dance at the Quicksilver Social at the Kleeman Community CenterEveryone ages 50 and up, come out to the Kleeman Community Center from 5:00pm to 7:00pm every 3rd Saturday of the month to enjoy music, games and refreshments- all for only $2.00!

Story Tellers

LEAP OrganizationChildren and parents can enjoy interactive story time as the storytellers from L.E.A.P. (Leadership Enlightenment Academic Achievement and Perseverance) bring to life stories from cultures across the Globe.

This program will be held at the Kleeman Community Center once a month, kicking off with “The Polar Express” at 7:00pm on December 13th. It is free to attend, but a Community Center ID card is required.

Indoor Aquatic Center Holiday Promotions

Indoor Aquatic Center - New ProvidenceEvery Tuesday, beginning December 13th through January 3rd, will be $1.00 Admission Day. Patrons can enjoy all-day access to the facility, located at 166 Cunningham Lane, for only $1.00. Thursdays will be 2-for-1 Admission Day. Two swimmers can enjoy a day at the indoor pool for the low price of $3.00.

In addition to the savings days, the Indoor Aquatic Center will allow all-day access to “The Aqua Run Wibit,” each and every day of the week! The inflatable, floating obstacle course typically reserved for Wednesdays, will now be available daily with the purchase of a $2.00 wristband.

Indoor Soccer program to be offered soon

Soccer BallBeginning January 7th, the Crow Community Center, located at 211 Richview Road, will offer its eight week indoor soccer program aimed at teaching the basic fundamentals of soccer to kids ages 4-12. Cost is $25.00 per child. Register today!

Try Scuba Class

Indoor Aquatic Center - New ProvidenceThe Indoor Aquatic Center will hold its first introductory class Saturday, December 17th at 2:00pm for those wanting to get a taste of the scuba experience and an overview of what is involved in Scuba Certification (coming in March 2012). Ten people must be pre-registered to proceed with the class. Class is $25.00 and open to ages 10 and up.

Christmas on the Cumberland

Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan kicks off the 2011 Christmas on the Cumberland with the assistance of Santa and Mrs. Claus

Come enjoy the popular Christmas on the Cumberland walk-through event now through January 1st. Event hours are 5:00pm-10:00pm, Sunday through Thursday and 5:00pm-11:00pm on Fridays and Saturdays.

Join us for free activities from 6:00pm-8:00pm, December 16th, as local dance academies take the stage to perform holiday routines and on December 17th to enjoy free ornament decorating! Children of all ages are sure to love Christmas on the Cumberland.

Holiday Hours

Clarksville Parks and RecreationThe Clarksville Parks & Recreation Department’s three Community Centers will be operating on holiday schedule hours beginning December 20th through January 4th.

Holiday Center hours are as follows:

Monday-Friday, 10:00am–7:00pm
Saturdays will remain normal hours
