Terry named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week

Clarksville, TN – Josh Terry, a senior on the Austin Peay State University men’s basketball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

The Henderson, KY, native was named Mid-Major Player of the Week by College Sports Madness and Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week, after leading the Governors to back-to-back victories over Arkansas State and Tennessee. The defensive specialist showed his offensive prowess scoring 22 points in the 86-82 overtime victory against Arkansas State, Monday. Then the senior again led the Governors in scoring with 20 points in the 74-70 come-from-behind victory over Tennessee, Saturday.

Against Arkansas State, Terry finished 9-of-15 from the floor and came up huge in overtime, scoring the period’s first two buckets before sealing the win with a free throw with two seconds left.

Terry led the comeback against Tennessee, scoring nine points in the final 6:27. Included in those nine points were the game-tying basket with 1:05 left and the game-clinching free throw with 2.4 seconds left. The forward finished the game with 20 points on 6-of-10 shooting, with team-highs in assists (five), rebounds (five) and steals (four).

The Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week is selected by the APSU Sports Information staff each Tuesday during the academic year. Copies in a Flash, of Clarksville, sponsors the award.

Other notable performances by Austin Peay athletes included

Senior Tyshwan Edmondson, of the men’s basketball team, broke out of his shooting slump scoring 19 points on 7-of-13 shooting in the Governors 74-70 victory over Tennessee. Earlier in the week, Edmondson scored eight points-making 3-of-7 from the field with five assists and two steals.

Senior Whitney Hanley, of the women’s basketball team, recorded her fourth and fifth 20-point outings this season. She led the Lady Govs with 23 points at Middle Tennessee, making 8-of-12 from the field and all six of her free throws. Hanley also led the Lady Govs with 22 points at Ball State, making 7-of-15 from the field and all six of her free throws.

Senior Melvin Baker, of the men’s basketball team, recorded a double-double scoring 21 points and grabbing 10 rebounds in the 86-82 overtime victory against Arkansas State. At Tennessee, Baker again broke double-digits in scoring with 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting from the field.
