Clarksville Police Department’s K-9 Unit is Working Hard

Clarksville Police DepartmentClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Police K-9 unit returned from North Carolina with a whole lot of training and renewed motivation. There are now have Four officers on the street with their K-9 partners and a supervisor that has high expectations for the unit.

They are proactive and doing good things with their new or finely honed skills.

The K9 unit’s stats for November 16th – December 11th:

Deployments – There were 91 total deployments of the dogs …during this time frame. Of the 91, 22 of them were for tracking, building searches and article searches. 69 were for Narcotics searches.

Narcotics – During this time period there was a total of 232 grams of marijuana found (over half a pound) and 27.4 grams of cocaine found (roughly an ounce)

Other Finds – During the deployments two guns were recovered, a known burglar was tracked from the scene to the back door of his residence and two knives used to pry a door of a business were found using the K9’s.

Citations/ Misdemeanor. Arrest/ Felony Arrest – There was a total of 13 citations issued, ranging from speeding to equipment violations. There were 6 misdemeanor arrest ranging from DOSL to warrants on file and there were three felony arrests generated by the K9’s and handled by an agent.

Congratulations to K9 Handler Casey Stanton (in photo) and Aris for being TOP DOG for the last cycle. Stanton and Aris ended the cycle with a total of 193.5 grams (little less than 7 ounces) of marijuana and 4 grams of cocaine seized. They also recovered two handguns and had several successful tracks.
